Julita Ann Leavell brings nearly three decades of dedicated courtroom experience to Genus Law Group. A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Julita’s path in the legal profession began long before she argued her first case as an attorney. To put herself through law school, she spent several years working as a paralegal, a foundation that gave her a rare, 360-degree understanding of litigation, complex case management, and procedural mechanics from the ground up.
Over her 28-year career as a trial attorney and solo practitioner, Julita has established a formidable presence in the courtroom. She holds an exceptionally strong background in criminal law, having served as both a defense attorney and a special prosecutor while litigating countless jury and bench trials to verdict. This extensive trial record, paired with her experience in family law, children’s law, civil litigation, and estate planning, allows her to navigate complex legal disputes with seasoned tactical insight.
In addition to her deep New Mexico roots, Julita brings a rich global perspective to her practice, having lived and traveled extensively around the world. Outside of advocating for her clients, she enjoys fine woodworking and traditional bowyer crafts, coastal kayaking, and spending time cultivating her gardens and orchard on her mini farm.
